Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has announced the recruitment of Local Bank Officers (LBO) for the year 2025-26. Vacancy Details

The recruitment is for 400 Local Bank Officer positions across various states. The vacancies are distributed among different categories, including Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and Unreserved. Reservations for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are also applicable on a horizontal basis.

Candidates must apply for a vacancy in only one state. Applying for multiple states will result in only the last submitted application being considered. 

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the IOB LBO recruitment, candidates must meet the following criteria as of May 1, 2025:

Nationality/Citizenship

A candidate must be one of the following[cite:

  1. A Citizen of India or
  2. A Citizen of Nepal or
  3. A Citizen of Bhutan or
  4. A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, intending to settle permanently or
  5. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified East African countries, Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Candidates belonging to categories 2 to 5 must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

Age Limit

Candidates must be at least 20 years old and not more than 30 years old as of May 1, 2025. This means candidates must have been born not earlier than May 2, 1995, and not later than May 1, 2005 (both dates inclusive).

 Educational Qualification

A candidate must hold a Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Govt. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. Candidates must possess a valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate that he/she is a graduate on the day he / she registers and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online.

Pay Scale

The pay scale for Assistant Manager (Scale I) is Basic: 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920[cite: 102]. DA, HRA, CCA etc., will be as per rules in force from time to time.

Selection Process

Selection will be made based on an Online Examination followed by Language Proficiency Test (LPT) and Personal Interview. Candidates qualifying in the Online Examination would be called for Language Proficiency Test (LPT) and candidates qualifying both online exam and LPT will be called for Personal Interview.

Language Proficiency Test (LPT)

The candidate must have Proficiency (reading, writing and speaking) in the Local Language of the State applied for. Candidates shortlisted for the Personal Interview will be required to qualify Language Proficiency test, failing which they will not be allowed to appear for Personal Interview and thus their candidature will not be considered for further selection process. 

Personal Interview

Candidates securing minimum qualifying marks in the online examination & LPT (wherever applicable) shall be called for Personal Interview. The minimum qualifying marks will be decided by the Bank.

Final Selection

The weightage ratio of Online Exam and Personal Interview will be in the ratio of 80:20 respectively. The combined final score of candidates shall be arrived on the basis of scores obtained by the candidates in the Online Examination and Personal Interview. Selection will be made from the top ranked candidates in merit list prepared on State wise and category wise.

The application fee varies based on the category of the applicant.
